The Val di Chiana takes its name from the name of canal that allowed the reclamation from swampy lake to productive land to cultivate. Home of the famous "White Beast", a Chianina cattle that has been selected in this valley as a working animal.
The Church of Rigutino in Rigutino is an old church built around in year 1000 AD. You can reach it in a short walk from the farm.
The medieval village of Etruscan origin, 7 km from the farm Il Cipresso will surprise you with its narrow streets full of history, its churches and its magnificent view.
La Tabaccaia
La Tabaccaia is our point of sale where you can taste the typical dishes and products of our territory.
The building is an tabaccaia with a barn about 1 km from the farm along the road of Rigutinelli, from the village of Rigutinelli it arrives towards the Park of Monte Lignano.
The building has been recently restored preserving its original features.
La Tabaccaia, so we have always called it, with two distinct bodies: one in bricks and the other in stone.
The brick portion was used for drying tobacco (hence the name La Tabaccaia).
The collected leaves were arranged on beams running from wall to wall and igniting a fire below they were smoked and dried.
The stone portion consists of two floors; the ground floor, which guarded the grain, during the winter period it was stowed in graves on the ground; and on the first floor was kept hay for animals reared on the farm.
Today La Tabaccaia consists of a kitchen/lab and a separate room with bar and coffee tables where you can taste and enjoy our cuisine, you can still admire the graves of grain and the high windows from which came the smoke for drying tobacco.
Furniture including bar has been done using our old oak barrels.
There is also space outside and in summer you can eat and enjoy outdoor products.
